The rumored trade of Manny Machado to the Dodgers is now finalized and the Orioles will receive five players in return according to Ken Rosenthal. Baltimore will get Yusniel Diaz, Dean Kramer, Rylan Bannon, Zach Pop and Breyvic Valera.
No cash will be moved in the deal according to Rosenthal, as the Dodgers can take on Machado’s salary for the rest of the season.
Machado is expected to play shortstop in Los Angeles for the remainder of the season, as Corey Seager is out for the season after having Tommy John surgery. The Dodgers will only have Machado under contract for the remainder of this season and will have to convince the star to stay and maybe move positions. He will be a big part of the Dodgers’ playoff push.
The Orioles receive five prospects to help facilitate their rebuild. Three of the players (Diaz, Kramer and Bannon) are top 30 prospects in the Dodgers’ organization, with Diaz being ranked the fourth best for the Dodgers by mlbpipeline.com.
