College football is now in season. With the more weeks that go on, more news and notes will be put together. Here are some of the things happening around the sport of college football heading into week 6.
California Law Signed, Allowing Athletes to Profit From Their Likeness
California has signed a law that collegiate athletes can profit from their name and likeness responsibly. The NCAA has responded saying that they know changes need to happen, but would like to do make them on their own time. The Pac-12 made a statement about it professionalizing college sports. This will likely be litigated in court and will likely not be the final answer, but other states are following suit.
Chris Ash Fired by Rutgers
Rutgers have decided to fire head coach Chris Ash before the midway point of the season. He was in his fourth year with the team. Candidates for the job are Greg Schiano, Jim Leavitt and Butch Jones.
MSU RB Connor Heyward Enters Transfer Portal
Michigan State’s leading rusher from last season has entered the transfer portal. He only played in four games this season, so he will retain his junior-year status when he picks a new school.
