The University of Oklahoma is expected to hire Ohio State’s Alex Grinch as defensive coordinator according to The Athletic.
Grinch was the co-defensive coordinator with Greg Schiano this season at Ohio State. Before that, Grinch served as the defensive coordinator at Washington State.
At Oklahoma, Grinch will replace Mike Stoops, who was fired midseason. Ruffin McNeil took over as defensive coordinator on an interim basis. The Sooner defense allowed 32.4 points per game and gave up 45 points to Alabama in the College Football Playoff semi-finals.
For the Buckeyes, Grinch led the defense to allow 25.7 points per game. They were criticized for a few of their performances this season, mainly Purdue and Maryland, in which the Buckeyes allowed 49 and 51 points respectively.
