NFL Week 11 Final DFS Player Pool:
Last Updated: 11/18 12:50 PM EST
Quarterbacks:
Carson Wentz, Marcus Mariota
Carson Wentz will be the most popular quarterback in cash games this weekend without question, and it makes sense. He’ll be playing opposite Drew Brees and the dynamic Saints offense in New Orleans in a must-win game to catch up to the Washington Redskins. His $7,700 price tag is a major contributing factor to his expected popularity. Wentz is also in an amazing spot in terms of projected gameflow. As more than a touchdown underdog, it’s likely he’ll attempt at least 35 passes. When Wentz has attempted at least 35 passes, he has averaged 310 yards, two touchdowns and .33 interceptions. That average stat line translates to 20.07 points per game. Wentz has yet to have a game in which he’s eclipsed 30 FanDuel points, but this Sunday seems as good of a time as ever.
Marcus Mariota has come alive since getting the “glove” removed from his left hand and getting a week off. Since those two events, Mariota is averaging 26.5 passes, 234 yards, two touchdowns and six carries for 26.5 yards per game. While those two games were competitive, they did not force Tennessee to score or accelerate their pace. Their opponent, the Indianapolis Colts, play at the fastest pace in the league, averaging a play every 25.01 seconds. Andrew Luck and company have found a way to score no matter their personnel, posting more than 29 points in five of their last six games. If that trend continues, Mariota has as much upside as any quarterback on the slate, and his price allows you to create an excellent GPP lineup around him.
Running Backs:
Alvin Kamara, Saquon Barkley, Ezekiel Elliott, David Johnson, Doug Martin, Josh Adams
The first three running backs don’t need much justification. As you’ll see below, Alvin Kamara is my top running back on my GPP lineup, and Ezekiel Elliott is my top running back on my cash game lineup. Elliot will be among the most owned players in cash games on FanDuel, and at a $500 discount from Kamara, he lends for a better cash lineup overall. As it relates to David Johnson, last Sunday’s game against the Chiefs gave all his seasonal owners hope, and also gave DFS players another top running back option. I’m skeptical that he’ll see nine targets again since I’m presuming the Cardinals won’t be playing catch up all game. However, if he only gets five targets and at least 15 carries, he’ll make cash value against this horrid Raiders defense.
My favorite value running back, Doug Martin, will be playing opposite David Johnson. While Martin does have to contend with Jalen Richard for third down touches, Martin is the early down back. He’s gotten at least 10 carries in each of his last three games and has been targeted at least two times, as well. As bad as the Raiders defense is, the Cardinals are one of the worst units in the NFL when it comes to defending the run. When you compare him to other backs in this price range, like Phillip Lindsay, Kerryon Johnson and Alex Collins, he separates from the pack. Vance Joseph was on record talking about how he will go with the “hot hand” among their three running backs. Kerryon Johnson has a touch matchup against Carolina, and he will have to contend with Theo Riddick in a game they almost certainly will be trailing in. Also, Alex Collins’ unpredictable usage at the goal line and question mark at the Ravens quarterback position is just too much risk to take on for only a $200 discount.
UPDATE: My cash game lineup didn’t have any exposure to the Tampa Bay-New York (G) game. The big dilemma is do I use Saquon Barley or Odell Beckham? While there are plenty of high priced running backs that provide the same upside as Saquon, I decided to roll with him anyways, as I’d rather pay up for Michael Thomas as an expensive wide receiver.
UPDATE: What has allowed me to fit in players like Barkley and Thomas in my cash lineup is the usage of Josh Adams in the flex and the downgrade from Zach Ertz at tight end.
Wide Receivers:
Michael Thomas, DeAndre Hopkins, Odell Beckham, T.Y. Hilton, Kenny Golladay, Corey Davis, Larry Fitzgerald, Courtland Sutton, D.J. Moore
My two lineups are almost completely different. My cash lineup is chock-full of value at wide receiver, and my GPP lineup primarily finds value at running back. DeAndre Hopkins, while he may not have an efficient day against Washington, is poised for a ton of volume. By tournament logic, if you I like Mariota and Corey Davis, then you need someone on the Colts to perform in order to create the “pinball” scoring effect. Hilton is playing at home and has not had a game above 20 points all season, and he hasn’t scored above 10 in his last two games.
I’ve said that I would not be into Kenny Golladay if Marvin Jones was out. Well, I was mistaken. Golladay will be among the most popular receivers given his new role at the top of the target food chain for the Lions. Then when you combine that with his $6,400 price tag, he’ll be littered across cash game lineups everywhere this Sunday. My number one play at the wide receiver position this week is Corey Davis. Show me a player who’s been targeted 20 times in the last two weeks for less than $6,500 on this slate? There’s only one, and his name is Larry Fitzgerald at $5,900. I love Fitzgerald this week, but I can’t allow myself to play him and Johnson on my cash game lineup. As a result, Davis is on both my cash and GPP lineups. He has a phenomenal floor of production, and he has the ability to score 20-plus points, given his talent and role in the offense.
On the cheaper end, I was between Devin Funchess ($5,700) and Courtland Sutton ($5,600). It appears that Darius Slay will play, so that made me pivot down to Sutton. I’d prefer of course to play Fitzgerald, but as I said earlier, playing a running back and receiver from the same team in cash is not a sound strategy. Sutton will be involved no matter the gameflow. If he can get us 7-10 points, our cash lineups will be fine.
As it relates to D.J. Moore, it’s strictly a shot in the dark. After seeing how poor the Lions secondary played last week, I’m just crossing my fingers and hoping Moore can pop a big play or two in my tournament lineup at $5,300.
UPDATE: Since I’m not getting exposure to Beckham in my cash lineup, I decided to get him on my GPP lineup. You’ll also see that I have added Michael Thomas and Larry Fitzgerald to my cash game wide receiver core. I already referenced how I wanted to play Fitzgerald and Michael Thomas is probably the most stable cash game play at the position.
Tight Ends:
Zach Ertz, O.J. Howard
Need I really explain? With no Travis Kelce on this slate, Zach Ertz gives a huge advantage on the rest of the players at this position. He’s Carson Wentz’s favorite pass catcher and is their number one target in the redzone. The Saints don’t have someone capable of matching up with Ertz by themselves, and neither does any other team, for that matter. If he gets enough targets, the matchup won’t matter. Find a way to fit Ertz on your cash and tournament lineups.
UPDATE: O.J. Howard cracks my cash game lineup so I can afford higher priced running backs and wide receivers while not compromising my exposure to any single team. I will have Ertz and Adams on my GPP lineup together, but having them both on a cash lineup isn’t smart, as it is almost impossible for Ertz and Adams to score on the same play. Howard is in a great position against this Giants secondary and has solidified himself as a reliable tight end.
Defense/Special Teams:
Pittsburgh Steelers, Denver Broncos
The Steelers defense, while going on the road, is in a good spot against the Jaguars. Their $3,800 price gives them a low point total to make cash game value, and there’s always the possibility that Blake Bortles gifts them a turnover or two. The Broncos are, in my opinion, the best option among the cheap defenses. They provide great salary relief while still giving you tournament upside.
UPDATE: Denver is now the only defense I’ll be using.
NFL Week 11 Final DFS Lineups:
Last Updated: 11/18 12:50 PM EST
This first lineup will represent my cash-game lineup. With six teams on bye and some anemic offenses still in the player pool, there wasn’t a need for me to create a second cash lineup. The second lineup is being used in all my single-entry contests between 100-1,176 people.
