NFL Week 3 is here. Picking NFL games straight up is hard enough, but picking against the spread is even tougher. Here are the NFL week 3 picks against the spread. (Spreads are from Tallysight as of Tuesday morning)
Last Week: 7-9, Season: 12-20
Thursday Night Football
Pittsburgh Steelers at Cleveland Browns (-4.5)
Cleveland has struggled to open the season, after needing a last-minute field goal to defeat the Panthers and losing to the Jets. Pittsburgh will be able to keep it close because of their defense and the game may be decided by a field goal.
Pick: Steelers
Sunday Afternoon
Cincinnati Bengals (-5) at New York Jets
The Bengals have started off the season worse than anyone could’ve imagined. They have to get back on track and they know it. The Jets will be playing with house money, but Cincinnati should come out with a win.
Pick: Bengals
Houston Texans at Chicago Bears (-2.5)
Houston tied the Colts in week 1, but that is starting to not look like a great result. Chicago won against a tough 49ers team in week 1 and played the Packers tough too. They should be able to cover at home.
Pick: Bears
Las Vegas Raiders (-2.5) at Tennessee Titans
Las Vegas had trouble stopping Kyler Murray, but they won’t have that same obstacle this week. Tennessee does not look good early in the season and really need to rebound. Las Vegas is also desperate for a win and can cover on the road.
Pick: Raiders
Kansas City Chiefs (-6.5) at Indianapolis Colts
The Colts look flat out bad. They need to give Jonathan Taylor more touches, which could help them keep it close, but until they prove they will do that, the smart pick is to take the Chiefs.
Pick: Chiefs
Buffalo Bills (-5.5) at Miami Dolphins
Can anyone stop the Bills? They look impeccable early in the season. The Dolphins had a nice comeback against the Ravens, but beating the Bills is a whole different challenge.
Pick: Bills
Detroit Lions at Minnesota Vikings (-6)
Now that the Vikings aren’t playing in primetime, Kirk Cousins should be able to rebound. The team looked really good in week 1 at home and should be able to win and cover against the Lions.
Pick: Lions
Baltimore Ravens (-3) at New England Patriots
Baltimore’s offense is humming, but the defense needs to step it up. They should be able to in this game, as the Patriots have struggled to score points early in the season.
Pick: Ravens
Philadelphia Eagles (-4.5) at Washington Commanders
The Eagles looked great on Monday Night Football. Washington, on the other hand, can’t stop anyone on defense. Philadelphia can get a key division win on the road and should cover.
Pick: Eagles
New Orleans Saints (-2.5) at Carolina Panthers
Jameis Winston is injured and did not look good in week 2. Carolina hasn’t played the greatest either, but may be able to take advantage of that.
Pick: Panthers
Sunday Evening
Jacksonville Jaguars at Los Angeles Chargers (-7)
The Chargers had extra time to rest for this game, which was needed after Justin Herbert injured his ribs against the Chiefs in week 2. He should be able to play and the Chargers should outmatch the Jaguars at home.
Pick: Chargers
Los Angeles Rams (-3.5) at Arizona Cardinals
Arizona got a big win on the road against the Raiders after looking awful in week 1 against the Chiefs. The Rams seemed to get back on track against the Falcons, although they did take their foot off the gas late in the game. Los Angeles should win and cover.
Pick: Rams
Atlanta Falcons at Seattle Seahawks (-2)
Atlanta is rebuilding and has a second straight west coast road trip. That usually doesn’t lead to an upset. Seattle will run the ball and play solid defense, which should result in them winning by more than a field goal.
Pick: Seahawks
Green Bay Packers at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-2)
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have not looked very good despite being 2-0. Green Bay seemed like they took a step forward against the Bears in week 2. Take Green Bay and the points.
Pick: Packers
Sunday Night Football
San Francisco 49ers (-1.5) at Denver Broncos
Denver hasn’t looked great to start the season, but they have had a lot of moving parts between new faces and injuries. They should be able to defend their home turf against the 49ers.
Pick: Broncos
Monday Night Football
Dallas Cowboys at New York Giants (-2.5)
The Cowboys played a great game against the Bengals, but it will get harder for them to consistently produce good results with a backup quarterback. Brian Daboll has done a great job to get the Giants to 2-0 and can keep the momentum going.
Pick: Giants
