Former Bears defensive tackle Eddie Goldman has announced his retirement from the NFL. On July 6, he was picked up by the Falcons after being released by the Bears. He did not play a single game for the Falcons before forgoing his new contract and deciding to retire.
The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Tuesday afternoon.
Veteran DT Eddie Goldman, who recently signed with the #Falcons, has informed the team that he's retiring instead, source said. The former #Bears standout, who is 28, played six seasons, plus the opt-out year in 2020.

Goldman was selected with the 39th overall pick in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft by the Bears. He played five seasons with the Bears, and was also a member of the team in 2020 despite opting out due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They released him in March of 2022.
His best season, arguably, came in 2018 when he gathered three sacks and 40 combined tackles. Goldman’s biggest sack total came in his rookie season, when he racked up 4.5. His last NFL season (2021) saw him grab just half of a sack and 22 combined tackles.
