2022 NFL Top 100: 90-81

Now that the 2022 NFL Draft is over, the TGH staff have ranked their top 100 players ahead of the 2022 NFL season. 

Multiple TGH staff members voted on their top 100 players, who were given scores based on their ranks, then sorted by their final score. The players were ranked regardless of position, and the editors broke any ties at their discretion.

Each article in this series will list 10 players at a time, with brief comments on their 2021 performances and what is expected of them in 2022. Make sure to check back to TGH’s NFL page for the next 10 players in our list!

Today, we list and evaluate players 90-81 in our list of the 2022 NFL Top 100.

90. Derek Carr

Derek Carr has played with the Raiders for all eight seasons of his NFL career. He is a great deep passing threat and has really given the Raiders some underrated years during his time as their as quarterback.

He had one of his best years in 2016 when he took the Raiders to a 12-3 season and came in third in MVP voting, racking up 4,000 yards that year and 28 touchdowns. Just last season, Carr threw for 4,804 yards and 23 touchdowns last season. He led the Raiders to the playoffs where they lost to the eventual AFC Champion Bengals in the Wild Card Round. He has the chance to rocket up this list in 2022, given his reunion with his college running mate, receiver Davante Adams. -Ben Hendricks

89. Von Miller

Von Miller is a sure-fire future Hall of Famer. Among his accomplishments are eight Pro Bowls and a Super Bowl MVP in 2015. During his ten-year career, mostly with the Broncos, Miller accumulated 540 tackles and 115.5 sacks. His total sack number has him ranked 31 on the all-time sack list.

In 2021, Von Miller was traded to the Los Angeles Rams and ended up earning a Super Bowl ring in the process. During the 2021 season with the Rams and the Broncos Miller racked up 50 total tackles and 9.5 sacks. Even though he is 32, Miller can still bring a good amount of production in the NFL. -Matthew Brown

88. Budda Baker

In Baker’s five year career, he has already racked up four Pro Bowl and two First Team All-Pro selections. Last season, in 17 games, Baker had three interceptions, seven passes defended, two sacks and 98 total tackles. He has never had less than 74 combine tackles in a season, so it is a bit of a shame that he is maybe best known for almost grabbing a long pick six, but being tracked down by Seahawks receiver D.K. Metcalf. Either way, the odds are that Baker will again be one of the best safeties in the league. -Ben Hendricks

87. Jordan Poyer

Poyer had his first First Team All-Pro selection in 2021, but, strangely, was not selected for the Pro Bowl. His 10th year in the league came with a career high in interceptions (five) and sacks (three). He also racked up 93 combined tackles as the Buffalo Bills came within just a few seconds of making the AFC Championship Game. -Ben Hendricks

86. Micah Hyde

The first of two Bills safeties on this list, Micah Hyde has proven he belongs calling signals on the back end of a defense after a lackluster start to his career in Green Bay. Hyde had five interceptions and one touchdown in 2021 to go along with 74 total tackles. He is invaluable to what the Bills want to do on defense, and can help defend all of the uber-talented AFC quarterbacks and their speedy wideouts. -Ben Hendricks

85. Jason Kelce

Kelce has been the model of consistency for the Eagles. He is undersized, but he continually shows he knows how to use his leverage and has a very high football IQ. There aren’t many centers that could play at this high of a level for so long. With additions this offseason, the Eagles will be looking to compete and having the glue of the team in Kelce back only helps. -Joe DiTullio

84. Shaq Mason

Mason, a two-time Super Bowl champion with the New England Patriots, played 97 percent of the offensive snaps for the Pats in 2021. He played 15 of their 17 games last season and acquired just four total penalties. In fact, during Mason’s seven-year career and 6,647 snaps, he has just 11 holding penalties. Needless to say, he is one of the most solid guards in the league, which is an underrated position as-is. -Ben Hendricks

83. DeMarcus Lawrence

Lawrence’s impact on the game doesn’t always show up in the stat sheet. He had three sacks in seven games during the 2021 season, which is a decent pace. With other good players on the Cowboys’ defense now, like Micah Parsons, Lawrence will get less attention from offensive lines and will be able to up his production in 2022. If the Cowboys wish to have the same success they did last season, they’ll need a big year from Lawrence. -Joe DiTullio

82. Roquan Smith

Any time the Bears play, Smith is all over the field, as he had 163 total tackles in 2021. He isn’t the biggest linebacker, but his speed sets him apart from others. Smith should continue to develop in the coming years as he has become a leader for the Bears. -Joe DiTullio

81. DeForest Buckner

Buckner is entering his seventh year in the NFL, and his third with the Indianapolis Colts. In those seven seasons, he has two Pro Bowls under his belt, along with a First Team All-Pro selection, which came in 2020, his first in Indy. Last year, he had seven sacks and 68 total tackles, which is good, but by Buckner’s standards, a bit of a down year. Expect him to return to his 12 sack form in 2022, as the Colts have geared up for a deep playoff run.
