All signs point to CoreJJ starting for Team Liquid in Week 3 of LCS Spring Season. Riot’s Global Contract Database now labels CoreJJ to Resident, and General Manager Dodo tweeted an image of Twisted Fate holding a green card. The image implies TL’s star support has finally secured his green card for North American residency.

Liquid’s offseason roster building relied on CoreJJ holding a green card. Otherwise, Bwipo, Hans sama and CoreJJ would be considered non-residents, and only two of them could start at one time. In the meantime, Academy League support Eyla has started most of the matches. CoreJJ joins teammates Bjergsen and Santorin as a resident player, despite originally importing from another region.
CoreJJ’s Value
This is huge news for Team Liquid and their fans. They knew the green card might not immediately be available for the start of 2022, but the time has come. CoreJJ enters his fourth year of playing in North America. Over the past three years, he has lead TL to two titles, two second places, one third place in the LCS, two Lock In titles, one MSI finals, and three World Championship appearances.
In the offseason, CoreJJ coordinates in-house scrims with LCS, Academy and amateur-level players. He is Vice President of the LCS Players Association, and now he sits on the Champions Queue Council. CoreJJ has consistently shown he is willing to elevate the competitive landscape in North America, so the granted residency feels well deserved. It will also open up opportunities for CoreJJ and Team Liquid when considering offseason opportunities.
