Von Miller just won the second Super Bowl of his career after being traded to the Los Angeles Rams during the 2021-2022 season. The Broncos traded Miller after seven games, allowing him to play the following eight and the playoffs with Los Angeles. He started in all eight of those games, racking up five sacks and 31 combined tackles.
In the playoffs, he grabbed four more sacks, including two in Super Bowl LVI. With a great postseason under his belt, the 32-year-old has his pick of teams to give his services. Here are three potential landing spots for Von Miller.
Los Angeles Rams
A logical choice for Miller would be right where he just won the Super Bowl. The Rams have the opportunity to run it back, and he could be a big part of a repeat. They would probably even be able to give him a decent contract depending on who leaves in the offseason.
This is not a very sexy choice, but it would allow Miller to continue his winning ways and make an impact in key moments. The Rams have a very good front seven that would also allow him to save his energy and protect his health for games/plays that matter the most.
Kansas City Chiefs
Make no mistake, the Chiefs are mad about the AFC Championship Game loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. They will reload in every possible way to try and reach the Super Bowl once again. This could include beefing up their pass rush with a veteran like Miller.
NFL fans know that Kansas City likes to sign veterans over younger, more unproven players. Miller is just that, and he can lead the Chiefs’ front seven with his Super Bowl-winning pedigree. They also may just follow the Rams’ lead and try and build a true super team to run through their conference. Their window before Mahomes’ contract balloons to an insane number is closing quickly, so they have to sign free agents now.
New England Patriots
This may seem like an odd fit at first, but keep in mind that the Patriots spent the most money in free agency in the last offseason. They may go to a similar business model this year, as they were able to make the playoffs. New England was absolutely blown out by the Bills in the Wild Card round, which means they need some defensive reinforcements.
Miller has plenty left in the tank, despite being over 30. Bill Belichick will certainly have to evaluate his tape and decide that he is a fit for the scheme, but with the way he rushes the passer, it seems like he would pass that test with any team. This would be a move to a winning culture, rather than a winning roster, which may be a fun new test for Miller.
