One of the biggest strategies in fantasy football is streaming defenses. Each week owners will look at matchups and make waiver wire acquisitions to find their starting defense. Here are fantasy football defenses to stream week 18. (Note: All defense mentioned are rostered in less than 50 percent of ESPN leagues)
*All stats and rankings from before Monday Night Football
1. Tennessee Titans
Tennessee has had a solid fantasy defense this season, ranking 13th and scoring 6.7 points per game. They have two negative-scoring performances on the year. That has been more than offset by five double-digit scoring outings.
In week 18, the Titans are playing the Houston Texans. The Titans have to win to clinch the top seed in the AFC. On top of the extra motivation, the Texans only score 15.9 points per game, ranking 30th in the league. Tennessee should have a big day and are only rostered in 36 percent of ESPN leagues.
2. Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs have had an average fantasy defense this season, ranking 16th and scoring 5.9 points per game. They have five double-digit scoring games, all of which have come since week 9. Kansas City does have four negative-scoring games, with the latest being against the Bengals in week 17.
For their week 18 matchup, the Chiefs are matching up with the Denver Broncos. Denver scores just 19.4 points per game and on top of that, they have been really struggling since Teddy Bridgewater has gone down with an injury. They have scored 13, 13 and 10 points over the last few weeks. The Chiefs are rostered in 27.8 percent of ESPN leagues.
3. Washington Football Team
Washington has not had a good season defensively, ranking 28th and scoring 3.2 points per game. Despite not playing well, they have only scored negative points in two games this season. They have one double-digit game, which came against Dallas.
This week, the Giants play Washington, which gives a good opportunity for the football team. The Giants score 15.7 points per game and have only scored a total of 19 points over the last three weeks. With Daniel Jones out, Washington can have a big day on defense. They are available in over 75 percent of ESPN leagues.
4. Minnesota Vikings
Minnesota has had a below-average fantasy defense this season, ranking 20th and scoring 4.6 points per game. They have two negative-scoring outings this season, with the latest coming in week 17 to the Packers. They have also scored in the double digits twice this season.
In week 18, the Vikings play the Bears. Both teams won’t be in the playoffs and the Bears score just 18.4 points per game. They have averaged just 12 over the last three weeks. Minnesota is rostered in just 24.6 percent of ESPN leagues.
5. Cincinnati Bengals
Cincinnati has had a decent fantasy season, ranking 19th at 5.1 points per game. They have scored negative points in a game three times this season. On the flip side, they have four double-digit scoring performances, with the latest coming against the Broncos in week 15.
For the season finale, the Bengals play the Browns. Cleveland has been struggling with injuries all season long and will be on a short week after playing the Steelers on Monday Night Football. The Browns score 20.9 points per game. In the last five weeks, they have scored just 13.9 points per game. Cincinnati is rostered in 15 percent of ESPN leagues.
