Philadelphia 76ers point guard Ben Simmons was ejected from practice on Tuesday. According to reports, head coach Doc Rivers asked Simmons to participate in a defensive drill two separate times, which he refused twice.
The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported the news via Twitter on Tuesday afternoon.
Sources: Doc Rivers asked Ben Simmons to join a defensive drill today. Simmons refused. Rivers asked again. Simmons said no again.

Simmons has requested a trade out of Philadelphia, which led to speculation that he would hold out during the 2021-2022 season, or at least until the trade was completed. Instead, he returned to the team and decided to play for the 76ers.
His commitment to the team is now understandably in question. Joel Embiid said to the media after practice, “At this point I don’t care about that man. He does whatever he wants.” Doc Rivers also added that he was trying to, “protect the team.”
