NFL week 14 is here. Picking NFL games straight up is hard enough, but picking against the spread is even tougher. Here are the NFL week 14 picks against the spread. (Spreads are from tallysight.com as of Wednesday morning)
Last week: 8-7, Overall: 96-95-1
Thursday Night
New England Patriots at Los Angeles Rams (-5)
The Patriots are coming off a dominating performance against the Chargers. The Rams have been inconsistent this year, but should be able to cover the spread on a short week at home.
Pick: Rams
Sunday Afternoon
Houston Texans (-2) at Chicago Bears
Houston looks much better after firing Bill O’Brien. Maybe the Bears should follow suit and fire their head coach.
Pick: Texans
Arizona Cardinals (-2.5) at New York Giants
The Giants just upset the Seahawks. It is hard to figure out whether they will be able to keep this up, but the Cardinals are the more talented team. If Arizona wants to make the playoffs, they need to get back in the win column.
Pick: Cardinals
Minnesota Vikings at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-6.5)
Minnesota is playing much better after their 1-5 start. They will be able to run the ball and keep this game close against the Buccaneers.
Pick: Vikings
Tennessee Titans (-7.5) at Jacksonville Jaguars
While the Titans are coming off of a tough loss to the Browns, playing the Jaguars shouldn’t pose too much of a threat. Derrick Henry will have a big day in a Titans’ win.
Pick: Titans
Dallas Cowboys (-3.5) at Cincinnati Bengals
Andy Dalton gets his chance at revenge against the Cincinnati Bengals and he’ll likely convert on his chances. The Bengals weren’t a good team to begin with and now the injuries have piled up.
Pick: Cowboys
Denver Broncos at Carolina Panthers (-3.5)
Denver proved that they could keep up with anyone by keeping things close with the Chiefs. Vic Fangio has his team playing hard and they should be able to keep this one close at the very least.
Pick: Broncos
Kansas City Chiefs (-7) at Miami Dolphins
This matchup will be fun. The Chiefs have an explosive offense, while the Dolphins have one of the best corner tandems in the league. Kansas City will eventually pull away and win by more than a touchdown.
Pick: Chiefs
Sunday Evening
New York Jets at Seattle Seahawks (-13.5)
Seattle had a bad game against the Giants and will rebound against the Jets. The Jets will have a new defensive coordinator in this game, which will make things tougher.
Pick: Seahawks
Indianapolis Colts (-3) at Las Vegas Raiders
Las Vegas is struggling mightily over the last few weeks. They have lost to the Falcons and almost lost to the Jets. If Indianapolis can continue running the ball to set up the pass, they will win and cover.
Pick: Colts
Green Bay Packers (-7.5) at Detroit Lions
The Lions got a win after firing Matt Patricia, but that was against the Bears. They won’t be able to pull off the same thing against the Packers.
Pick: Packers
Atlanta Falcons (-2.5) at Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers just were destroyed by the Patriots. Atlanta lost to the Saints in week 13, but did show signs of life in week 12. The Chargers’ only wins this season are against the Jets, Jaguars and Bengals.
Pick: Falcons
Washington Football Team at San Francisco 49ers (-3)
Kyle Shanahan has his team playing tough through a bunch of injuries, but they are going to wear down. Washington has momentum going for them after beating the undefeated Steelers. If they win this one they will be in good position to make the playoffs, so they’ll at least keep it close.
Pick: Washington
New Orleans Saints (-7) at Philadelphia Eagles
This game will be Jalen Hurts‘ first start. There are plenty of easier circumstances to come into. Sean Payton will make sure the Saints’ offense produces, while the defense will pounce on the rookie. Hurts had trouble reading defenses in college, so expect a few turnovers from him.
Pick: Saints
Sunday Night
Pittsburgh Steelers at Buffalo Bills (-2.5)
The Steelers had a rough game against Washington. They should be refocused now. Their defense will limit what Josh Allen can do, which will help them keep this game very close.
Pick: Steelers
Monday Night
Baltimore Ravens at Cleveland Browns
This is a pick’em game after the Browns have played well and the Ravens have played on short weeks. Baltimore will win the game, as Lamar Jackson found himself again in the game against the Cowboys. He’ll take advantage of the Browns’ shakiness on the back-end of the defense.
Pick: Ravens
