NFL week 3 is here and football is back. Picking NFL games straight up is hard enough, but picking against the spread is even tougher. Here are the NFL week 3 picks against the spread. (Spreads are from ESPN as of Thursday morning)

Thursday Night

Tennessee Titans (-2) at Jacksonville Jaguars

Jalen Ramsey wants a trade and A.J. Bouye is banged up, but will play for the Jags. With a backup quarterback, even if he is playing well, and some drama in the locker room, it is best to stay away from picking the Jags.

Pick: Titans

Sunday Afternoon

Miami Dolphins at Dallas Cowboys (-21.5)

The Dolphins are trying to tank, that is apparent. This spread is incredible, but with how bad the Dolphins are and how solid the Cowboys are, it isn’t crazy. The Cowboys should be able to cover the spread at home, especially with the Dolphins just trading Minkah Fitzpatrick.

Pick: Cowboys

Cincinnati Bengals at Buffalo Bills (-6)

If the Dolphins are the worst team in the league, the Bengals aren’t that far behind them. They played the Seahawks close in week 1, but then lost big to the 49ers. Injuries have piled up for Cincinnati making things worse. The Bills, on the other hand, are 2-0 and look like they will finish second in the AFC East.

Pick: Bills

Baltimore Ravens at Kansas City Chiefs (-6.5)

Lamar Jackson looks really good for the Ravens, but they did just win by one possession over the Cardinals. The Chiefs will want to protect their home turf and show that their offense is still way ahead of Baltimore’s.

Pick: Chiefs

Denver Broncos at Green Bay Packers (-7.5)

Denver has some real problems on their hands. They don’t score a lot of points and Von Miller and Bradley Chubb aren’t getting to the quarterback. Green Bay’s defense will help them hold Denver to under 20 points, while the Packers’ offense will start to come to life.

Pick: Packers

Atlanta Falcons at Indianapolis Colts (-1.5)

The Colts have done better than expected with Jacoby Brissett at quarterback. They aren’t scoring a lot of points though, which is a problem. Matt Ryan and the offense started to get the offense going last week against the Eagles and should be able to do more of the same this week.

Pick: Falcons

Oakland Raiders at Minnesota Vikings (-9)

Last week the Raiders lost to the Chiefs by 16 points. They may be on the road this week, but they should be able to at least keep the game close against the Vikings. Minnesota looked good in week 1, but struggled against the Packers. The Vikings will win, but it will be close.

Pick: Raiders

New York Jets at New England Patriots (-23)

This is another game with a huge spread. The Jets are banged up and on a third-string quarterback, but this spread is just too much. New England will win easily, but the Jets will keep it within three touchdowns.

Pick: Jets

Detroit Lions at Philadelphia Eagles (-6.5)

After a disappointing tie against the Cardinals, the Lions defeated the Chargers last week. They will not be so lucky against the Eagles, who will put up some points at home. Detroit will not be able to keep up.

Pick: Eagles

Sunday Evening

Carolina Panthers at Arizona Cardinals (-2.5)

With Cam Newton out, the line has moved in favor of the Cardinals. Without the Cardinals having won a game, the Panthers still have a shot, even without Newton. Kyle Allen showed flashes of being a decent quarterback when he filled in for Newton last season. The Panthers will, at the very least, have the opportunity to make this a close game.

New York Giants at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-6.5)

Daniel Jones has taken snaps under center, but has not played well yet. Tampa Bay’s defense has also been better than expected this season. With extra time to prepare for this game after the Thursday night win over the Panthers, Tampa Bay should be able to cover.

Pick: Buccaneers

Houston Texans at Los Angeles Chargers (-3.5)

This game has the makings of a close one. The Chargers have had their two games be decided by nine points total. Houston’s games have been decided by three total points. While the Chargers should win, the Texans are the safer bet in this game.

Pittsburgh Steelers at San Francisco 49ers (-6.5)

Mason Rudolph looked solid in relief of Ben Roethlisberger last week. The problem is that the 49ers are at home and looked dominant against Cincinnati last week. If Jimmy Garropolo can protect the football, the 49ers will cover.

Pick: 49ers

New Orleans Saints at Seattle Seahawks (-4)

This game is dangerous for a few reasons. The Seahawks always play opponents close and there is no telling what Sean Payton will do with the offensive gameplan. Teddy Bridgewater may need more than a week to knock off the rust, so Seattle should win by at least a touchdown.

Sunday Night

Los Angeles Rams (-3) at Cleveland Browns

The Rams are a much better team than the Browns as things currently stand. Cleveland needs to find some answers on their offensive line for them to be a great team. The Cleveland fans will be excited for Sunday Night Football, but it won’t be enough.

Pick: Rams

Monday Night

Chicago Bears (-4) at Washington Redskins

Another Monday night with another lousy game. With the way Mitch Trubisky is playing the Redskins have a shot to beat the Bears at home. The Bears should be able to cover if Trubisky improves even a little bit with their defense leading the way.
