In a Twitter thread, the first Teamfight Tactics Esports Event has been announced as the TFT Galaxies Championships. In this announcement David Higdon, Riot’s Global Head of Communications, revealed that qualification process that would widdle down the entrants to the best 16 players in the world. The available regions would include China, Europe, Russia, the Middle East, Japan, Korea, NA, Brazil, Latin America and Turkey. The players will be playing for a prize pool of $200,000. Also that each set would have a championship similar to this one once it was at the end of its time. In the bracket below, one can see how many entrants each region will receive.
How to Become an Entrant
To become an entrant, each region will have its own qualifying process. The only one that was revealed was the Korean bracket which can also be seen below.
Players will need to be ranked Diamond or above in order to participate. For North America specifically, they will be taking the top 16 players through both the regular ladder as well as organized play.
“This marks the launch of the beta of our circuit
system in North America. We plan to have a number of online tournaments starting in May where players fight to earn points to qualify for two potential seats at the NA Final.”
- As for the ladder, the qualification process will start the first week of May and end in the last week of July. Players will earn points each week based on their rank and the top 10 point earners across all weeks combined will earn a seat to play in the play-in tournament for the championship.
- Lastly, they announced that they will be releasing the “TFT Community Competition Guidelines next week to unlock organizers to create more opportunities for high stakes competitive play.” This will allow for people to really test their abilities against the best of the best. Also they are working on the broadcasting and operation of tournaments to allow for easier and better broadcast across the board.
