Sunday night, the Ducks lost to New York Rangers 5-2. Anaheim found themselves up 2-1 after two frames, but the Rangers responded with four goals in the third for the comeback.Â
Adam Henrique recorded both goals for Anaheim. Troy Terry and Leo Carlsson added two assists for the Ducks. 10 different Rangers had a point. Leading the way was Chris Kreider who had a goal and two assists.
To start things off for Anaheim Adam Henrique stayed hot with two goals. Henrique has recorded two points in three of his last four games. Troy Terry assisted on both goals. That is now two games in a row for him recording two points.
A lone Vincent Trocheck wrist shot was the only offense in the second as the two teams headed to the locker room with Anaheim up 2-1.
Then the third period was Duck season for New York. Anaheim goalie Lukas Dostal faced a whopping 15 shots in the third. Four different Rangers scored during the third. It was Artemi Panarin hitting the game winner for the Rangers.
The Rangers take the season series 2-0.
The Ducks are now losers in six of their last seven games. Anaheim managed just five shots in the game’s first two periods. The Ducks spent most of the game in the defensive zone again as Lukas Dostal faced 33 shots.
The offense has relied heavily on Adam Henrique and Troy Terry, and it appears more of the Ducks young core need to step up with Zegras and Mintyukov still out injured.
Next for the Ducks is another home game tonight against the Sabres which will be a featured game on ESPN+ and Hulu so it will only be available there. Gametime is at 10:00 P.M. EST, 7:00 P.M. PST.
The Sabres are coming in after a 3-1 home loss to the Lighting followed by two days of rest. Buffalo, much like Anaheim, finds themselves second to last in their division.Â
