It didn’t take very long for Cristiano Ronaldo to reach the 100 goal mark. In addition, the 36-year old Portuguese star hit this important milestone faster than any other player in Juventus history.
Details on Ronaldo’s Accomplishment
Ronaldo reached his big achievement during a matchup against Sassulo Wednesday, which helped his team gain a two-goal lead.
This milestone means that Ronaldo has scored 100 goals in just 131 games for Juventus and he is the first player in Juventus history to score that many goals in only three seasons.
Additionally, this feat is something Ronaldo can add to his many other list of accomplishments in his soccer career.
However, it is important to note that this milestone is nothing new for the soccer star. Ronaldo has scored 100 goals with his former teams, Manchester United and Real Madrid. In addition, he has scored for Portugal.
A Look at Ronaldo’s Future
Ronaldo joined Juventus before the 2018-19 season started. Now, as the soccer club is nearing the end of their season, this means Ronaldo has just one more year left on his contract with Juventus.
This, of course, has caused much question about his future. Many are questioning if he will still play for Juventus for a few more years, if he will transfer to another team, or if he will retire once his contract expires.
Ronaldo, Juventus Ups and Downs this Season
Let’s take a moment to reflect on his time with Juventus. To begin with, Ronaldo made contributions to his team by helping them win Serie A titles in his first two seasons with the club.
Things seemed to have changed up a little bit, as the team was unable to make it to the Champions League. So, there has been a struggle lately between both Ronaldo and Juventus.
The team has been doing ok lately, but they have been struggling to keep up in the standings thus far. They got an important 3-1 win against Sassuolo, but they suffered an unfortunate 3-0 shutout loss to Milan Sunday.
The team’s wins, losses and ties have been pretty much back and forth at this point. Because of the team’s inconcistent performance, it has forced the team to be 5th ranked in Serie A.
The team is in the Europa League group stage based on their ranking, as well. However, there is no doubt that the team wanted to do a lot better. Juventus would’ve at least wanted to be 4th ranked to qualify for the UEFA Champions League group stage.
Juventus has a very, very slim chance of making it into the Champions League. It is unlikely they will make it at this point, but the opportunity is still out there and available for the team if they can exceed expectations.
Consequently, all of the team’s hopes and dreams may be shattered very soon – as soon as this weekend. Juventus has a big matchup against Antonio Conte and Serie A champs Inter Milan.
Juventus needs to win this game and as many games as possible in order to squeeze in at least fourth spot in Serie A.
On the other hand, if Juventus losses, this will conclude their chances of heading to the Champions League.
In addition to winning Saturday’s big game, Juventus will need to win the rest of the games remaining on their schedule and get some help from other teams.
Certainly this isn’t an ideal situation for Juventus to be stuck in, but this is the way it is. They have been struggling to keep their head out of the water during their 2020-21 campaign.
