2025 Bahamas Bowl Preview

The 2025 Bahamas Bowl features the 8-4 Buffalo Bulls against the 8-3 Liberty Flames. Here is the 2025 Bahamas Bowl Preview.

Buffalo Bulls

Buffalo won eight games to qualify for a bowl game. They defeated two bowl-eligible teams this season: Northern Illinois and Toledo. All four of their losses were to bowl-eligible teams.

The Bulls score 29.1 points per game, ranking 61st in the country. They pass for 190.4 yards (ranked 108th) and rush for 164.7 yards per game (ranked 66th).

C.J. Ogbonna has started for the Bulls at quarterback this season. He has passed for 2,244 yards, 19 touchdowns and five interceptions on 57.1 percent completion. Four players have at least 200 receiving yards on the season. Victor Snow and JJ Jenkins have been impressive with 610 and 536 receiving yards respectively.

Al-Jay Henderson has led the team in rushing with 959 yards and eight touchdowns. Ogbonna has helped out from the quarterback position with 311 yards and eight touchdowns. Jacqez Barksdale backed up Henderson with 311 yards and two touchdowns.

Defensively, the Bulls allow 28.0 points per game, ranking 86th in the country. They give up 258.9 passing yards and 145.3 rushing yards per game. Shaun Dolac and Red Murdock have been an impressive tackling tandem with 159 and 143 respectively. Kobe Stewart leads the team with 9.5 sacks. Marquis Cooper has eight passes defended and two interceptions, but missed the last game of the season with an injury.

Liberty Flames

Liberty won eight games to make a bowl game this season. They defeated two bowl-eligible teams this season: East Carolina and Western Kentucky. They lost one game to a team that didn’t make a bowl game, Kennesaw State.

The Flames score 30.9 points per game, ranking 48th in the FBS. They pass for 175.8 yards (ranked 120th) and rush for 259.5 yards per game (ranked second).

Starting quarterback Kaidon Salter is in the transfer portal. Ryan Burger is expected to start after passing for 48 yards this season. Four players had at least 200 receiving yards on the season. Treon Sibley leads the team with 26 receptions for 499 yards and two touchdowns.

Quinton Cooley has led the team in rushing with 1,254 yards and 13 touchdowns. Billy Lucas has backed him up with 663 rushing yards and five touchdowns.

Defensively, the Flames give up 23.3 points per game, ranking 51st in the country. They allow 201.7 passing yards and 149.5 rushing yards per game. Joseph Carter leads the team with 83 total tackles. TJ Bush Jr. paces the team with 5.5 sacks. Amarian Williams has made plays on the ball this season with two passes defended and three interceptions.

Prediction

Losing Salter will make it tougher for Liberty to score. They still should be able to run the football successfully. If they can do that, they can control the clock and win the game.
