Pokemon Sword and Shield set a new precedent with Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra. For the longest time, Pokemon would pump out an updated third version (Emerald, Platinum, Yellow) if games needed updates. Generation 8 is the first time the franchise broke this mold by doing DLC. For a lot of people, this was a welcomed change from spending another 60-80 bucks for a near-identical game. How this brings the question, will Pokemon Legends Arceus be dropping DLC?
Legends DLC, Baby!!!
To the delight of many fans, they are! A leaker by the name Riddler_Khu has discovered that Legends Arceus DLC will be dropping in April. The specific release date has not been revealed, but it doesn’t change the fact that this expansion is right around the corner.
While there aren’t any concrete details from Khu about what will be in the DLC, their post showed cropped images of Looker and Palmer. The leak hints that Gamefreak might be planning to add possible ancestors for these characters. As players have seen characters such as Cyllene and Colza, it makes sense that this might be possible. This is also Riddler’s tweet touched upon.
New Pokemon Are on the Horizon
Other sources have corroborated that new Pokemon and forms, along with Mega Evolution, will be part of the DLC as well. Specifically, Game freak might be adding 158 new Pokemon to the game. However, until more information is released, the community will have to make due with our imaginations.
This doesn’t mean players can’t speculate. As many are aware, there are many Pokemon, approximately 63 that are not present in any Generation 8 Pokemon game. Players would probably love to have evolution lines such as the Kalosian starters and other Gen 6 mythical Pokemon like Volcanion or Hoopa. Heck, having Megas for the Legends Arceus starters would be a welcome addition as well. Imagine a Mega Hisuian Typhlosion with purple and black flames or a mega of Hisuian Samurott with dual razor shell blades. Legends has opened the door for so many more creative designs for new additions that it’d be criminal for Gamefreak to not capitalize on it.
Could There Be New Locations As Part of the DLC?
Again, purely speculation right now, but another possibility that players could want to see are new locations. Areas that could represent a past version of Iron Island, Fuego Ironworks, Fullmoon, and New Moon Island could be interesting to use for DLC story beats. Another option is to make Legends Arceus exclusive areas with new stories and lore for those areas specifically. Despite being the past version of Sinnoh, not everything needs to link back to BDSP. There can be explanations in the story as to why these areas don’t show up in the present day in BDSP. As long as Gamefreak gives the dev team the room to express their creative freedom, the sky should be the limit to get good extra content out.
In Conclusion
Legends Arceus has been a hit for fans. The community as a whole cannot wait for what’s in store for them in April. Legends is arguably bringing the franchise out of a stale and low-quality period. Hopefully, much like the DLC for Sword and Shield, Legends’ keeps the newly established hope rising.

good information!!! makes me wanna buy this game
ON MY WAY TO BUY THE GAME
Why are people so happy about Gamefreak (and Nintendo for that matter) following the, rather concerning trend of the rest of the gaming industry, of adding DLC to their games? Since the 3DS games GameFreak have push their players to hand over more money. You must pay to transfer Pokemon from previous generations, you must pay to trade online, you must pay for extra Pokemon.
Pokemon Black/White2, for example, had the entire Pokedex at the time. No DLC, no patches. A full game. I miss those days…
