The Valiant have officially unveiled their new color scheme ahead of the 2020 OWL season, featuring a shift away from the green to a blue to match the team’s yellow. Although this was leaked by the OWL website several weeks ago, it is a sight to see.
According to the team’s PR, “The driver of the decision to change colors is the Overwatch League franchises’ upcoming localization. The Valiant are digging in as representatives of Los Angeles as they compete across the globe. The city of LA, and the greater Southern California region, is known for its blue skies and golden sun and now our players and branding reflect that image.
However, it goes beyond stage visuals and merchandising. The team’s in-game skins with the new colors are massively improved. Whether someone is a Mercy-main or a Torbjörn enthusiast, fans will be proud to put new LA Valiant skins on their favorite Overwatch hero.”
Additionally, a few LA Valiant players will debut the new color palette at Staples Center on Wednesday, January 8 as part of Los Angeles Kings Video Game Night featuring IGC Esports. Fans who buy tickets to the game via LAKings.com/videogames will receive access to a pregame meet and greet with the Valiant plus other IGC Esports teams including OpTic Gaming LA (Call of Duty League) and Immortals (League of Legends).
The Valiant’s official rebrand comes right on the heels of the Florida Mayhem’s recent change to pink and blue, as well each team’s new hashtags that were unveiled yesterday. Overall, it seems that the league may prove to look and feel quite a bit different leading up to the 2020 season.
