Tiger Nation didn’t get their back-to-back, unlike the LA Gladiators, when it comes to the Midseason Madness. The first interregional tournament of Season 5 of the Overwatch League did not end for the APAC region as many fans hoped it would. Here is a look at what the fandom has to look forward to in the Summer Showdown.
Upcoming Tournament System
The Seoul Dynasty has now had their first taste of the North American region. It has shown that the playstyle match-up was not in their favor. The Summer Showdown is not an intraregional tournament. That means that the Seoul Dynasty will be able to play against known opponents. In the last interregional competition, the Seoul Dynasty took home their first major win. This is not to say that it will be easy. The Seoul Dynasty’s first lost in teh Midseason Madness was to their fellow APAC team of the Hangzhou Spark. With matches not at unusual times and with more practice against their opponents, it looks hopeful that the Seoul Dynasty can pull out more wins.
Standings
Though the Midseason Madness didn’t go their way, that can be said for most of the APAC region. When it comes to the standings for APAC and the intraregional the Dynasty has not fallen.
The Seoul Dynasty is currently still the number one seed in APAC with 13 points. The next closest team in the APAC region is the Hangzhou Spark and Shanghai Dragons at 11 points each. The San Francisco Shock and LA Gladiators only have a few points on the Seoul Dynasty at 16 and 17 points respectively. That means that the Dynasty has not fallen too far behind when it comes to APAC and whole league-wise.
Determination
Determination is nothing that can be measurable. But if anything, the Seoul Dynasty has perserverence and determination. Junyoung ‘Profit’ Park is known to practice long hours to ensure good results. The players and coaches will not be happy with their end result, which means that they will be coming back even more prepared for the next bouts of tournaments.
It is easy as a fan to be discouraged after a tournament where they didn’t place as well as was predicted. That doesn’t mean that there isn’t a lot of positives that can be taken away. Hopefully the Seoul Dynasty has keep their heads up and push off the Midseason Madness to go into the Summer Showdown fresh and with their eyes on the prize!
