In a recent tweet by the official @PlayOverwatch Twitter account, a log of Dr. Mina Liao was posted that could potentially be taken as a teaser for the game’s 32nd hero. The image, seen above, appears to be set for release on a date in March and describes the process of approving an “Athena Prototype.” This very well could be Overwatch hero 32, especially considering the recent leaks about a new Support hero coming soon.
It has been a very long time since a new hero was released in Overwatch, with fans hoping that extra time has been spent working towards Overwatch 2. Sigma, hero 31, was released all the way back in August of 2019, right about seven months ago. This is the longest span between heroes that Overwatch has ever seen, and fans are chomping at the bit for more content surrounding the game.
While the details are currently few and far between about the information regarding the new potential hero, keep an eye on the ending of the Archives event to mark the beginning of the heroes’ journey to live servers. If true, this would be taking place on April 2. Keeping in line with current trends, a challenge to unlock a skin for the new hero would make sense for the game. Until then, here are the heroes currently banned in Competitive play.
