On the Blizzard forums today, January 8, Overwatch Developer Josh Noh responded at length to the community backlash over his initial post on power creep. In this post, Noh claimed that he felt Overwatch wasn’t “anywhere close” to being at a point of significant power creep, citing several heroes win-rates in Grand Master rank. This caused a sharp backlash from the community and Noh responded with the post below:
An Unexpected Outcome
This is the first time in quite a while that developers have taken to responding directly to the community’s outcry over out of balance heroes. Moving into Competitive Season 20, many feel that the nerf to shields has only necessitated them more in-game, making heroes like Sigma and Orisa even more powerful. Here is a former OWL player’s thoughts along the same lines.
im pretty sure if you removed sigmas shield he would still be a really good hero
its hilarious that blizzard thought nerfing all shields would remove double shield. when it in fact necessitates having 2 shields to compensate for the nerfed HP LOL
u cant make this stuff up bro
