Overwatch’s 20th competitive season is finally here to help bring in the New Year with fans of the game, which means it is also time for a new Competitive play map rotation. These competitive map pools started last season, which limited the mode to 12 maps that could be queued into. Season 20 remains at 12 maps, however, only seven from Season 19 will carry over into Season 20.
The maps from Season 19’s pool that are staying:
- Anubis
- Hanamura
- Volskaya Industries
- Havana
- King’s Row
- Eichenwalde
- Busan
New maps into the rotation for Season 20
- Dorado (replacing Watchpoint: Gibraltar)
- Rialto (replacing Route 66)
- Numbani (replacing Hollywood)
- Ilios (replacing Nepal)
- Oasis (replacing Lijang Tower)
These changes mean that Season 20 will keep both Assault (2 CP) maps from Season 19 and will exclude maps like Paris and Horizon Lunar Colony that players have complained about for some time. Fans will also likely welcome the return of Rialto and Ilios, two maps which are typically revered as some of the game’s best.
Outside of the new map announcements, no other updates have yet been revealed for the 2020 New Year. The Game Haus will continue, however, to provide any new updates to the game as they are announced, so stay tuned!
