The bowl season gives fans and scouts alike a chance to analyze NFL Draft prospects against solid competition. Bowl scheduling allows all eyes to be on each game. Here are the NFL Draft prospects in the 2024 Alamo Bowl.
Tyler Batty, EDGE
Batty joined BYU in 2020. He played and was effective right away during his college career. Batty has gained a lot of experience during his college career. BYU named Batty a team captain in 2024. In 2024, he total 55 tackles, seven tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks.
At 6-foot-5 and 275 pounds, Batty is a huge edge rusher. He might be a better fit at 3-4 defensive end if he can bulk up. A move inside could help him, but he would be undersized on the interior. He is a projected late-round pick.
Projected Draft Range: Sixth Round Pick-Undrafted Free Agent
Jack Kelly, EDGE
Kelly started his college career at Weber State, where he spent a few seasons. After excelling there, he transferred to BYU for the 2024 season. In 2024, Kelly played well, finishing the regular season with 48 total tackles and five sacks.
He stands at 6-foot-2 and 240 pounds, which is a little undersized for an NFL edge rusher. His ability to adjust to the competition level is a good sign that he can jump to the next level. Kelly is a junior and could return to school. He is a projected late-round pick or free agent.
Projected Draft Range: Sixth Round Pick-Undrafted Free Agent
Other Draft Prospects: OT Caleb Etienne (UFA), QB Jake Retzlaf (UFA), IOL Connor Pay (UFA), LB Ben Bywater (UFA)
Travis Hunter, CB/WR
Hunter started his college career at Jackson State. He played there for one season, then followed Deion Sanders to Colorado. He continued playing both ways at Colorado and developed on both side of thballs for two seasons. In 2024, he had 1,152 receiving yards, 15 touchdowns, 11 passes defended and four interceptions.
At 6-foot-1 and 185 pounds, Hunter has decent size for the NFL, but could fill out his frame a bit better. He has good athleticism and ball skills. NFL teams will have to decide on how to utilize him, but he would be drafted early regardless of how they want to play him.
Projected Draft Range: Top Five Pick
Shedeur Sanders, QB
Sanders played two seasons at Jackson State to start his college career. He followed his father, Deion, to Colorado starting in 2023. In 2023, he played well and then did even better in 2024. This season, he has passed for 3,926 yards, 35 touchdowns and eight interceptions on 74.2 percent completion.
He has decent size for an NFL quarterback at 6-foot-2 and 215 pounds. Sanders has shown he can handle pressure well and has great accuracy. He doesn’t have the best arm strength, but can overcome that with his football IQ.
Projected Draft Range: Top 10 Pick
