Max “Unter” Unterwurzacher, the team’s assistant coach last year, is now the associate head coach. This move likely occurred because Mike “Packing10” Szklanny, the team’s current head coach, was not only given roster authority for the team but also became the head coach of the organization’s Valorant roster. Unter is the perfect person to be an associate head coach. After retiring from pro play earlier this year, he became the head coach of British Hurricane. With that team he led them on one of the most dominant runs in Contenders history before joining the Valiant mid-season as an assistant coach.
The other move the teamannouced was the addition of Sung-woo “Sungwoo” Hong as an assistant coach. While never a player, he began coaching all the way back in 2017 for DeToNator.KOREA. After spending time coaching there and with Meta Athena, he joined the Guangzhou Charge as an assistant coach during their first two seasons. Seeing as the Charge performed well the past two seasons, this is potentially a great addition.
