Spree was an inaugural member of the Outlaws roster, signed to the team as a Zarya specialist. While he saw limited play for most of his tenure in Houston, his exceptional performance made him a fan favorite. With only about 3 hours played in the 2018 season, he led the league in eliminations per 10 minutes (20.42). He became well known for strong performances on King’s Row, solemnly dubbed “Spree’s Row” by the Outlaws faithful.
He saw more play in 2019, trading off with Matthew “coolmatt” Iorio, but has not seen play time in 2020. Spree was also one of only two Belgian players in the League, along with Andreas “Logix” Berghmans of the Toronto Defiant.
In a personal message on Twitter, Spree indicated that his limited playtime influenced his decision to leave. “My goal has always been to go for more playtime and I would grind endless hours of other heroes,” he stated. “During the time on the bench I’ve spent a lot of time to work and reflect on myself. I feel my mental has improved a lot.” Outlaws staff and fans reacted with appreciation on Twitter and Facebook.
