The MVP award is a highly sought after award each season. This is a the player that has excelled the most during the season. This year the Overwatch League decided to present the MVP and the Dennis Hawelka award back to back. With Ham ‘Someone’ Jeongwan earning the Dennis Hawelka award, Danny Lim had him stay on stage while the MVP video played. Not only does Someone earn the honor of the Dennis Hawelka Award, but also the Season 6 Overwatch League Most Valuable Player!
Someone
There is so much that Someone has done for his team. He has been a leader to so many players. He hasn’t been in the league as long as some of the veterans, but has made a huge impact. Though he mentioned he doesn’t talk to his teammates of how they perceive him, Jake on the desk said that other players in the league are not shy about talking about Someone’s influence.
Someone has worked up the ranking starting in tier 3 on Gen.G B, moving to Gen.G Contenders in Korea. He has played on Team CC a Chinese contenders team and finally in the Overwatch League on the North American team of Florida Mayhem. Someone has learned and grown through the community. He is the perfect model of what the Overwatch League wants to attain. He worked through the ranks starting at the bottom to rise to the top. He didn’t stay in one region but explored from APAC KR, CNOW, to NA Overwatch. And as he went through and learn he left a strong positive impression on so many in the community.
MVP Award
Someone was so humble. Though both award meant a lot to him, he said that he has personally known the previous MVP recipients and have looked up to them as role models. As he stood on the stage with his two trophies in hand, he was holding his emotions together. There is still a chance that he will add to those trophies with the Overwatch League grand finals and or the grand final MVP award. Someone is well deserving of the Overwatch League MVP for season 6.
