Just a week away from the first ever Overatch League Pro-Am tournament, fans are beginning to get that “start of the year” excitement all over again. Games are finally on the horizon, and despite the crazy last few days of the offseason, OWL fans can’t wait to see their favorite teams play once again. Unfortunately for APAC fans, it will be the NA teams up first to open the 2023 season of the Overwatch League as they compete in the opening Pro-Am.

On March 23, OWL teams will compete against Tier 2 teams in a show-match style tournament. Teams will be placed into groups, where they will play some round robin matches in order to determine which teams will advance to the knockout rounds. Groups will contain at least a single Contenders team, meaning there is a chance that a Contenders team will advance through to the next state. That of course, is all based on the group seeding.
Overwatch League Pro-Am Groups
On Wednesday March 15, the Overwatch League announced the groups for the Pro-Am. Each group consists of five teams, with only two getting the chance to advance.
Group A features the Vancouver Titans, San Francisco Shock and the Florida Mayhem for Overwatch League teams, with Trick Room and Timeless representing Contenders.
Group B will have the Atlanta Reign, London Spitfire, Los Angeles Valiant and Vegas Eternal battle it out in a OWL-packed group. The lone Contenders team, the Maryville Saints, will have to punch up in each match without another Contenders team face.
Group C will see the Washington Justice, Los Angeles Gladiators and the Boston Uprising matchup against WISP and Team Peps in a relatively even group.
Last is Group D, which has a murderer’s row of teams with the Toronto Defiant, Houston Outlaws, Twisted Mind and Redbird Esports. The current unannounced New York Excelsior roster will have plenty to prove in this group.
Who will make it out of their group and prove themselves the best team in the west? Check back in on March 23 when the Overwatch League Pro-Am kicks off.
