After a long hard-fought season of the Overwatch League, the final bracket has been revealed. The Overwatch League playoff bracket was decided last night as teams chose their opponents for the opening round. The bracket this year is a bit wonky, but it appears as though the OWL higher ups wanted to true something new and exciting for it’s sixth season.
We have two split brackets both of which are double elimination. It’s interesting to say the least, as a typical double elimination bracket would have been essentially the same, with all teams getting the chance to play one another. In this bizarro bracket, teams in Bracket 1 won’t be able to play teams in Bracket 2 until the semi finals. This seems a bit odd, but it very well could turn out to be a fun wrinkle to an old stand by.

In the seeding portion of the bracket, teams chose to send specific teams to the other side of the bracket, rather than selecting their first round opponent. This switch-up has made it so the Fuel, Infernal, Outlaws and Mayhem are all on one side of a the bracket. London, Boston, Atlanta and Hangzhou sit on the other side of the fence to watch the brutal battle that is Bracket 2. People are still quite confused as to why the Infernal had chosen to play Dallas off the rip, but that may have easily been a misunderstanding of the format.
The Overwatch League playoffs will take place live in Toronto in two weeks time. Teams will get the chance to perform on stage for what may be the last Overwatch League Grand Finals.
