It was crucial Game 6 between the Calgary Flames and the Dallas Stars with the Flames needing a victory in order to force a Game 7. The Flames started the game on fire, scoring three goals within the first seven minutes. The first goal came from Andrew Mangiapane less than four minutes into the game. Johnny Gaudreau extended the lead two minutes later on a power play. Finally, Rasmus Andersson added another goal less than a minute later. The Flames were buzzing early in the game and desperately wanted to force a Game 7. However, Miro Heiskanen scored on the power play a few minutes later, cutting the deficit to two.
The second period was a completely different story though. It all started with Stars’ forward Denis Gurinov scoring a minute into the second. Moments later he scored again, tying the game up 3-3.
All of the momentum now was shifted in favor of the Stars. Radek Faksa scored on a power play two minutes later, followed by Joe Pavelski. Gurianov completed the hat trick by adding one more to the Stars lead before the end of the second, making the score 6-3.
In the third period, the Flames desperately tried for a comeback however they could not find the back of the net. It had seemed that their offense disappeared. The Stars added an insurance goal to secure their win and guess who it was, Denis Gurinov. He scored four goals as the Dallas Stars defeated the Calgary Flames 7-3, winning the series 4-2. They will now face the Colorado Avalanche in the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
