Cale Makar (13) made it 2-0 Colorado late in the period when they entered the Rangers’ zone on a power-play. Nazem Kadri (24) passed the puck to MacKinnon (20). Rangers vs. Coyotes preview
The Rangers are tied for second in the Metropolitan Division in points with 39, a slight edge going to the Carolina Hurricanes who have played one game less with one more win. The Rangers have lost two straight games.
The Arizona Coyotes are last in their division with a dismal 12 points, putting them last in the league, although they have played three games less than the Montreal Canadiens who have 15 points. They are going to try to beak their five-game winless streak. The Rangers have a big advantage over the Coyotes for the all-time record against each other. In the 81 games played against the Rangers, the Coyotes are 28-41-6-6.
The last game Arizona played was on Saturday when they lost 5-3 to the Philadelphia Flyers, who are 11-12-4.
It is unclear what is going to happen. The matchup tonight highlights two teams, each struggling in their own way. The question is who is going to prevail? The Rangers have only won one game in their last four and that was against a Buffalo Sabres team who has had their own share of struggles. Their 1-0 loss on Sunday against the Nashville Predators was hard-fought. They had several chances, but couldn’t even get one goal to tie it up because the Predators goalie, Juuse Saros, was incredible.
A win tonight can help both teams. For the Coyotes, it will help give them confidence against one of the top teams in hockey. For the Rangers, a win can help bring them back to the greatness they have shown thus far in the season. The Rangers are a competitive team who can easily win the division. They have just had problems lately scoring goals. Which Rangers team will show up tonight?
