1. Oliver Ekman-Larsson
The Coyotes are in need of a shakeup or even a rebuild after losing a first and second round pick for the testing prospects early scandal along with a disappointing team. The Coyotes are against the cap so trading Ekman-Larsson would free up cap space and give them picks/prospects.
2. Matt Murray
Pittsburgh has two starting goalies, Tristan Jarry and Matt Murray. With the Penguins being tight on cap space and the Seattle Kraken expansion draft coming up next year, the Penguins need to trade one of their goalies. Jarry played much better last year and is younger which makes Murray expendable.
3. Patrik Laine
In his time in Winnipeg, Laine hasn’t been as dominant as expected. He’s had some ups and some downs and may need a change of scenery. The Jets desperately need a second line center and top four defenseman which means trading Patrik Laine wouldn’t be out of the question to fill up those holes.
4. Marc-Andre Fleury
The Golden Knights are reportedly expected to try to sign Alex Piertangelo in free agency, however they don’t have enough cap space. Fleury, this season, underperformed as Robin Lehner took over his starting role in Vegas. The Golden Knights will almost certainly keep Lehner which means Fleury will likely be traded to shed some cap space.
5. Matt Dumba
The Wild have some big needs to fill on offense and in net they need to address this offseason. With already a solid defense including Suter, Spergeon and Brodin, the Wild could trade Dumba who would have a ton of value with many teams needing a top 4 right handed defenseman.
6. Frederick Andersen
After yet another disappointing season for the Leafs, a trade is destined to happen to improve the team. Andersen did not have the greatest stats this season and the Leafs need a better starting goalie to make it further in the playoffs. This means Andersen is probably on his way out of Toronto.
7. Phillip Danault
The Canadiens already have a very stacked center depth with Domi, Suzuki and Kotkaniemi which means Danault is expendable. Danault has a good amount of value right now coming off of a solid season offensively and defensively. Many teams would be interested in Danault if the Canadiens decide to trade him.
8. Jake Virtanen
Virtanen’s time in Vancouver hasn’t been the greatest as it was reported that management doesn’t like him much and they underplay him. However, Virtanen still has a lot of potential just being 24 years old and could be traded in a deal to unload Vancouver’s bad contracts.
9. Max DomiÂ
In his time in Montreal, Domi has been very solid putting up 72 points in his best season. However, Domi becomes an RFA this offseason and the Canadiens might not want to pay him tons of money, especially if they go after a big name free agent. That means Domi could be on his way out but a team that needs a second line center/winger could trade for his rights.
10. Nikolaj Ehlers
Just like Laine, the Jets may have to trade Ehlers in order to fill their needs. Ehlers is a great second line winger on a reasonable contract which means many teams could be willing to offer Winnipeg their needs for Ehlers.
