The 49ers have been exploring the trade market for Jimmy Garoppolo this offseason, but have not yet found a trade partner. He had a 31-14 record with the team and took them to the Super Bowl.
Lance, 22, was the no. 3 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. He sat and learned behind Garoppolo in his first year. In limited playing time, he passed for 603 yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions on 57.7 percent completion. He added 168 rushing yards and one touchdown on the ground as well.
While Garoppolo finds a new team, Lance takes over the 49ers who won 10 games and made the playoffs in 2021.
