The Los Angeles Chargers are extending star pass rusher Joey Bosa giving him a five-year, $135 million extension.
Chargers and DE Joey Bosa reached agreement on a 5-year, $135 million extension that ties him to LA the next six years, league sources tell ESPN. He had $78M fully guaranteed at signing and $102M guaranteed – a new NFL defensive record.

Bosa now passes Myles Garrett as the highest-paid defensive player on an average per year basis who set the record two weeks ago.
The Los Angeles Chargers selected Bosa with the third overall pick in 2016.
Joey Bosa won NFL Defensive Rookie of the year after posting 10.5 sacks in eleven games. He is also a two time Pro Bowler in 2017 and 2019.
He’s had 40s sacks in 51 career games over the course of four seasons. Bosa has been a dominant force since entering the league and is in the conversation for the best pass rusher in the league.
Based on Bosa’s past with holding out and taking extra time off during injuries, it is likely that he would have held out until he received his extension. So it was great for the Chargers to get this done.
