The Houston Texans will be without one of their star rookies for the rest of the season as they make a playoff push. Tank Dell is headed for injured reserve after suffering a leg injury on Sunday. He fractured his fibula, which will keep him out for the remainder of the year.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Sunday.
Dell, who is listed at 5-foot-10, 165 pounds was in as a blocker on a running play late in the first quarter, and was rolled up on. He was carted off of the field, not to return. The Texans did, eventually, win the game and move to 7-5.
In 11 games so far this season, Dell has 709 yards and seven touchdowns on 47 catches (75 targets). The third round pick essentially had no shot at Offensive Rookie of the Year, as his quarterback, C.J. Stroud, has it all but wrapped up. He was a big part of this young Texans team that is in playoff contention, however.
