Fitzpatrick was signed this offseason to help Washington improve at the quarterback position after they started Taylor Heinicke in the playoffs last season. Heinicke did fill in for Washington after Fitzpatrick exited with the injury. He completed 11/15 passes for 122 yards and a touchdown in relief and is the expected starter heading forward.
To help get another arm on the roster, Washington has signed Kyle Shurmur to the practice squad.
