The Packers plan to hire former Raiders interim head coach Rich Bisaccia to the special teams coordinator position. Maurice Drayton was formerly the special teams coordinator before being fired on February 1. Bisaccia was the Raiders’ special teams coach before being promoted to interim head coach.
The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Monday.
The #Packers are expected to hire former #Raiders interim coach Rich Bisaccia as their new special teams coach, sources say. The unit was an issue in GB last year, and coach Matt LaFleur goes a long way toward fixing it. Bisaccia is universally respected.

Bisaccia’s promotion to interim head coach was necessary after Jon Gruden was essentially forced to resign from the head coach position in 2021. Emails that Gruden had sent during his time as a commentator surfaced, which contained sexist, racist and homophobic comments. This led to his resignation from the position.
After being named interim head coach, Bisaccia became the first interim coach in NFL history to lead his team to the postseason. The Raiders would lose in the Wild Card Round to the eventual AFC Champion Cincinnati Bengals.
The Packers’ postseason loss could be placed squarely on Maurice Drayton and the special teams. Miscues on special teams led to all 13 of the 49ers points in the Divisional Round, which was enough to end the Packers’ season. Now they will have a seasoned veteran to come in and clean up that side of the ball.
