The Game Haus will be analyzing the player ratings from Madden 19 of every NFL team. Madden has a daunting task of rating all NFL players and their attributes. While they have the ability to correct some of these rankings with in-season roster updates, there are some issues with some of the initial rankings of players. This article will look into the head-scratching Madden 19 ratings for the Miami Dolphins.

William Hayes

Cameron Wake is an 89 this year and while that might be a tad low, generally speaking, that isn’t too bad. But his backup, is an 87.

William Hayes gets a good amount of pressure in the backfield there is no doubt about that. Yet, he has never recorded more than 5.5 sacks in one season, he did not start a single game last year and he only had one sack overall last season. There is no way that Hayes should be ranked above names like Akiem Hicks, Adrian Clayborn, Carlos Dunlap, Leonard Williams, Muhammad Wilkerson, Derek Wolfe and Vic Beasley Jr. Yes that is a lot of names, but it must be emphasized that Hayes, as a backup, is ranked higher than everyone of those players.

William Hays should be rated closer to a 75 if for no other reason than he played in 10 games overall, started none, and only had one sack last year when he did play.

Josh Sitton

Sitton was a huge offseason upgrade for the Dolphins. He has quietly been one of the best at his trade only allowing 60 total pressures over the last five seasons. While he is ranked as the 10th best guard in the league his rating is still fairly low at an 88.

The reason for this is that guards especially left guards, are rated way too low. As the 10th best guard in the league and the fourth best left guard, it is a crime that Sitton is not in the 90’s at least. All of his actual blocking stats are below an 88 as he is luckily carried by his high awareness and strength. Sitton had a great season last year and on a team that actually allowed only the 11th most sacks in the league last year, he should be rated higher as it is likely that he will grade out even better due to the better players around him this season.

At a minimum Sitton should be a 91 as he is the fourth best player at his position.

Danny Amendola

With Julian Edelman out last year Amendola had to shoulder a lot of the load for the Patriots and he did a pretty good job overall. He was finally healthy and finished with 659 yards and 2 touchdowns. While that is good it is not 85 overall good.

To start, his new teammate Kenny Stills had Jay Cutler throwing to him for most of the season, had Jarvis Landry having a career year, and he still had a much better year than Amendola and is rated below him. For reference, Stills had 847 yards and 6 touchdowns. Amendola is constantly hurt and when on the field he is still just a solid option for quick routes. He does not spread the field and his job requires him to go across the field constantly, thus leaving the possibility of him getting hurt again.

Amendola will be a nice addition to this offense. He will bring consistency but, he is not an 85 overall. A better rating for him would be closer to an 80.

Ja’Wuan James

Maybe it is just that Madden underrates linemen as a whole but, Ja’Wuan James was the best lineman on this team and was arguably a top five right tackle in the league. While he did miss half the season he was still on pace to have a career year of only allowing around three sacks.

When one of the best right tackles is only rated an 84 this is a problem. It might just be that the rating system values certain attributes too high or not enough. If this is the case then the way they value players should be adjusted. No matter what the reason may be, James should continue to improve this year and should be rated higher.

For James, a good rating would be an 87 or 88.
