The NFL Trade Deadline is within a week, which means some key players will be on the move. One of the players who has been involved in trade rumors is David Njoku of the Cleveland Browns. Here are the five potential trade destinations for David Njoku.
1. Green Bay Packers
While most of the time when talking about giving Aaron Rodgers weapons the conversation shifts to wide receivers, they could always get a tight end as well. Rodgers hasn’t used tight ends that much historically, but he made Robert Tonyan look like a star earlier this season.
If the Packers want to win a Super Bowl, they need to get Rodgers more help. Trading for Njoku would give him a legitimate weapon at tight end. He would be one of the only big-time weapons Rodgers would have outside of Davante Adams. With Njoku, it could open up the offense more.
2. Arizona Cardinals
The Cardinals spread things out a lot and use wide receivers, but they could still use some tight end help. They don’t really have a receiving threat at the position on their roster. With Arizona in position to make a playoff push, they should be exploring all opportunities to improve the team.
Arizona has already set up Kyler Murray with a lot of weapons. He has DeAndre Hopkins, Larry Fitzgerald and Christian Kirk. That is a lot for defenses to handle, but what would make the offense even better would be a real threat at tight end. Njoku could be more productive and add a new element to the Cardinals’ offense in Arizona.
3. Carolina Panthers
After losing Greg Olsen this offseason, the Panthers were relying on Ian Thomas to step up at the tight end position. That hasn’t quite happened yet, as Thomas has just 78 receiving yards on the season. For a team that is in the playoff race, they should inquire about Njoku on the trade market.
The Panthers have some talented weapons on offense in Christian McCaffrey (when healthy), D.J. Moore and Robby Anderson. They will likely need more offensive fire-power if they want to make the playoffs and advance. Njoku could help the Panthers be more effective offensively.
4. Buffalo Bills
The Buffalo Bills have had a good start to the season and look like they could be a team that advances in the playoffs. They have added wide receiver help in the form of Stefon Diggs, but they could always add more weapons to Josh Allen‘s arsenal. With the addition of Njoku, the Bills could surprise people in the playoffs.
Njoku would be a good add as a pass-catcher that could be more effective in the red zone. The Bills don’t have many big-bodied wide receivers, so getting an effective tight end would help. While they have Dawson Knox, Njoku would be an improvement for the Bills.
5. New England Patriots
The offense for the Patriots has not played well. The Patriots have just two wins on the season, but if they turn things around quickly they can make the playoffs. One way to help the offense improve is to get a more experienced and better tight end.
New England has limited weapons to use on offense. Julian Edelman is a security blanket for Cam Newton, but their isn’t much else on the roster. To add to that, Edelman has been hurt recently, giving Newton very few good pass-catchers. They drafted two tight ends in the 2020 NFL Draft, but the Patriots really need a tight end who can produce now for the team if they have playoff aspirations.
