Players who will determine the 2022 NFL Season

The 2022 NFL Season is already two weeks in, and we are already starting to get an idea of who will compete and who won’t. 

The NFL is one of the most popular sports leagues in the world, and millions from all around the world are drawn to the sport due to its attractiveness and rivalry between teams. In fact, sports streaming trends in the US show that the first week of the football season is the most anticipated sports moment in America every year. 

Tom Brady – Tampa Bay Buccaneers 

It makes sense to start any spotlight on NFL players by starting with the best ever, Tom Brady.

NFL fans have been given a treat seeing Brady on the field this year as it was expected that he would retire at the end of last. 

Despite officially announcing his departure from the game, Brady performed a U-turn and is hoping to win his eighth Super Bowl title this year.

Brady has got off to a perfect start, guiding the Bucs to wins over the Cowboys and Saints. Despite being 45, he has shown no signs of slowing down, and nobody would bet against Brady leading the Bucs all the way once again.

Patrick Mahomes – Kansas City Chiefs 

Patrick Mahomes has long been regarded as one of the best talents of his generation, and it’s not hard to see why. 

Mahomes has wowed fans of the NFL with his ability to make explosive plays and wild variety of throws. Since Mahomes became the starter for the Chiefs he has been nothing but deadly. The Kansas gun slinger has already won one Super Bowl and lost in another.

Questions were asked of Mahomes this year due to the absence of a few first-team stars, but the Mahomes train looks set to keep rolling following wins over both the Arizona Cardinals and LA Chargers.

The NFL is the number one sport in the US, with games being played almost every night of the week. The game is fast becoming explosive, with Quarterbacks able to throw the ball miles down the field and accrue huge yardages. It’s because of players like Mahomes that is making the game so enjoyable to watch, with millions watching every week. 

Aaron Rodgers – Green Bay Packers 

Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers have been the dominant force in the NFC for the last two seasons, with Rodgers winning the league’s MVP award for the past two years running. 

Rodgers and his team have been nothing but dominant in the regular season but have come unstuck when it comes to the postseason. 

Rodgers has long been regarded as one of the best Quarterbacks to have ever played the game and will be disappointed that he has only ever won one Super Bowl.

Rodgers recently signed a new deal with the Green Bay Packers that will keep him in Wisconsin for the next few years. His hopes of winning a second Super Bowl title would have been dealt a blow when his best receiver Davante Adams decided to move to the Raiders this past offseason. 

Adams’ absence was clearly felt as the Packers got routed against the Vikings in week one, but it would be foolish to dismiss a team with Rodgers at the helm who bounced back nicely against the Bears to leave their early record at 1-1.

Aaron Donald – LA Rams 

Life got off to a tricky start for the defending Super Bowl Champions LA Rams when they got blown out by the Buffalo Bills on the season’s opening night. 

It was a shock result that would have reminded the Rams that they will have a huge target on their chest this season. The result didn’t seem to have any lingering effect as the Rams bounced back with a win over the lowly Atlanta Falcons in Week 2.

A key reason for Ram’s positive result was Aaron Donald. Without a doubt, the best defensive tackle to have ever played the game, some believe that Donald could be the greatest defensive player ever. 

Donald is a perennial pro bowler and has also been named the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year on three separate occasions. Donald is able to wreak havoc up the middle, and if he can perform at the level we have become accustomed to seeing, the Rams have a chance to make a deep playoff run. 

Josh Allen – Buffalo Bills 

Heading into this year’s NFL season, many believed that the Buffalo Bills were the team to beat. The Bills announced themselves as potential Super Bowl Champions with a dominant win over last year’s winners, the LA Rams, in week 1.

Much of the optimism around the Bills center around Quarterback Josh Allen.

Allen is a superstar athlete that can do it all. He is blessed with a cannon of an arm and, despite his size, can move like a man half his height and weight.

Allen and the Bills have suffered several near misses in recent seasons, but the expectation is that this really could be their year. If the Bills are to win their first-ever Super Bowl, much will rest on Allen’s shoulders. 

Saquon Barkley – New York Giants 

A surprise name on our list is Saquon Barkley, as both Barkley and the Giants have surprised the NFL fraternity with two wins to start their season. 

Barkley as a rookie, took the NFL by storm, winning the Offensive Rookie of the Year crown. Since then, things have been tough for the running back, whose career has become marked by injuries. 

This year Barkley looks to be at full fitness and is running angry. He has averaged over 100 yards on the ground. It’s clear that with doubts over the Giants at Quarterback and out wide, the Giants will go as far as their superstar running back allows them to go. 

Joe Burrow 

Joe Burrow is in his third NFL season and has already shown what a fantastic talent he is. He was on pace for a great rookie season before injury wiped out any chance he had of leading the Bengals into the postseason. 

However, Burrow rewrote the script last season, taking the Bengals all the way to the Super Bowl. The Bengals couldn’t quite hang with the LA Rams, but Burrow played well and certainly wasn’t overawed by the grand occasion. 

Burrow is confident, and despite the Bengals getting off to a 0-2 start, he will be fearlessly leading the Bengals all the way once again.
