The Steelers made the move for a tight end because their starter, Vance McDonald is dealing with a shoulder injury. He was seen with his arm in a sling on Tuesday.
Vannett, 26, has spent four seasons with the Seahawks. In his career, he has 48 receptions for 463 yards and four touchdowns.
Seattle has been using Will Dissly as their main tight end, which enticed them to trade Vannett for a pick.
