This will be the last edition of looking the Philadelphia Eagles undrafted free agent signings. Parts one through two can be checked out here. The players that will be looked at today are Jarrid William, Josh Blackwell, Mario Goodrich and Josh Jobe.
Jarrid Williams, OT, Â Miami
Williams started his college career at Houston but ultimately transferred to south beach to play for the Miami Hurricanes. Williams can protect the quarterback and can give the offense some good production with his blocking. He helped get Miami through some big games in which the offense put up some stellar offense in 2020. Against Florida State, Williams and the offensive line helped the Hurricanes gain 200 rushing yards. He led the Hurricanes through other big offensive performances with the likes of Clemson and Louisville. Williams probably will not start for the Eagles right away but has a chance to be a productive player down the road.
Josh Blackwell, CB, Duke
Blackwell is a great defensive back but also has some special teams experience as well at Duke. He is not known for producing turnovers, but he is great a pass defense. In 2021, he had seven passes defended which was seventh in the ACC that year. He averaged around that number throughout his time at Duke besides 2020. He suffered a torn meniscus at practice early in the season, which made him miss a lot of the year.
Blackwell can also tackle. In 2021, he had 35 tackles. He also had 28 in 2018 and 29 in 2019. Furthermore, Blackwell can also produce on special teams in punt returns. He had 149 return yards in 2019 and averaged 10.9 yards a return. He was ranked in the top 3 in the ACC with that average. Blackwell has a lot of upside and could really be a surprise player to get playing time in 2022, if he performs well in training camp and preseason.
Mario Goodrich, CB, Clemson
Goodrich played all four years with the Clemson Tigers. He really did not break out until his senior year. He did not have much production during his first three years because of a lack of playing time and the overall depth on that team. During his 2021 season, Goodrich racked up 35 total tackles and two interceptions. One of those interceptions was run back for a touchdown.
He was also great at pass defense as he had 9 pass defenses in 2021. Goodrich ended the season with being Cheez-It Bowl MVP and a third team all American by Pro Football Focus. The Eagles signed him to a lucrative contract for an undrafted rookie. He has 217,000 of guaranteed money according to reports.
Josh Jobe, CB, Alabama
Jobe played at Alabama for four years. He was projected to go in the 6th or 7th round of the NFL draft, but ultimately ended up being undrafted. Jobe is excellent in coverage and has quick speed off the line of scrimmage. In 2020, he ranked second in the SEC in passes defended with 11. The Alabama cornerback is also good at stopping the run. Jobe had 55 total tackles in 2020 and 38 total tackles recently in 2021.
He is also decent at forcing turnovers but does not do it consistently. He had three interceptions throughout his career at Alabama. Furthermore, he had two forced fumbles in 2020 which put him at fifth in that category in the SEC that year. Overall, Jobe is not an immediate starter for this Eagles team, but he could make the roster as a nice backup.
This concludes looking at the Philadelphia Eagles’ undrafted free agent signings.
