The New England Patriots game against the Kanas City Chiefs postponed to Monday or Tuesday due to COVID-19 concerns.
The Patriots and Chiefs follow in the footsteps of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Tennessee coming into week 4. Luckily for fans, they won’t have to wait for a day or two. The NFL has pushed the game back to Monday or Tuesday of week 4.
“In consultation with infectious disease experts, both clubs are working closely with the NFL and the NFLPA to evaluate multiple close contacts, perform additional testing, and monitor developments. All decisions will be made with the health and safety of players, team, and gameday personnel as our primary consideration.” The NFL said in an official statement about the Patriots and Chief games.
The decision was made to postpone the game, due to one of the Patriots testing positive. The Patriots are the second team to have problems due to players catching the novel virus. The Steelers vs Titans will play on October 25.
Who is Not Playing in Patriots Vs Chiefs
The player who tested positive will affect the outcome of the game, and anyone who has him on their fantasy team.
That player is New England quarterback, Cam Newton.
Newtons test coming back positive is according to sources, that told ESPN yesterday. If true, the Patriots will have Brian Hoyer play in the Chiefs game.
The Patriots did not specify if the player was Newton or not. However, they released in an official statement saying “we received notice that a Patriots player tested positive for COVID-19. The player immediately entered self-quarantine. Several additional players, coaches, and staff who have been in close contact with the player received point of care tests this morning and all were negative for COVID-19.”
This marks the first time season that the coronavirus pandemic has affected the Patriots.
