The NFL Wild Card Round is here. Picking NFL games straight up is hard enough, but picking against the spread is even tougher. Here are the NFL Wild Card Round picks against the spread. (Spreads are from espn.com as of Tuesday morning)
Last week: 5-10-1, Overall: 125–127-4
Saturday
Indianapolis Colts at Buffalo Bills (-7)
The Bills are playing really good football, but this is a big spread for a playoff game between teams with similar records. Buffalo may win the game, but it will be hard to move the ball on the Colts’ defense. Indianapolis will keep it within a touchdown.
Pick: Colts
Los Angeles Rams at Seattle Seahawks (-4.5)
What has happened to the Rams? They’ve lost to the Jets and can’t seem to be consistent to end the season. Seattle will be able to win and cover, especially with them being at home, where they lost just one time this season.
Pick: Seahawks
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-8) at Washington Football Team
The offensive fire-power of the Buccaneers will be too much for Washington to keep up. They barely snuck into the playoffs and have a good defense, but Tom Brady will be able to give Tampa Bay a comfortable lead.
Pick: Buccaneers
Sunday
Baltimore Ravens (-3.5) at Tennessee Titans
In a rematch of last season’s playoffs, the Ravens and Titans should produce a close game. Baltimore needs to score early and play with the lead to win games, while Tennessee will be looking to get Derrick Henry established on the ground. Either way, the Titans will at least be able to keep the game close.
Pick: Titans
Chicago Bears at New Orleans Saints (-9.5)
New Orleans won 12 games this season, but have only looked like a dominant team for a few weeks this season. That is partly because of injuries. Chicago’s offense has looked better as of late and their defense will limit what Alvin Kamara and Drew Brees can do.
Pick: Bears
Cleveland Browns at Pittsburgh Steelers (-4)
The Browns won this matchup in week 17, but the Steelers rested some of their starters. Pittsburgh hasn’t looked good the past several weeks, even with their starters, but the week off should help them come back rejuvenated. Pittsburgh will have confidence from having so many of their backups in and still competing with the Browns.
Pick: Steelers
