NFL week 17 is here and football is entering the end of the season. Picking NFL games straight up is hard enough, but picking against the spread is even tougher. Here are the NFL week 17 picks against the spread. (Spreads are from ESPN as of Wednesday morning)
Last week: 9-6-1, Overall: 123-111-5
Sunday Afternoon
New York Jets at Buffalo Bills (-1.5)
The Jets are playing better lately, but Buffalo is at home and the defense will take care of business. The Bills reportedly not sit their starters, so they should be able to cover.
Pick: Bills
Cleveland Browns at Cincinnati Bengals (-3)
Cincinnati has locked up the number one pick and can now let things loose. Cleveland has had a terrible season with frustrations coming out recently. The Bengals will cover.
Pick: Bengals
Green Packers (-12.5) at Detroit Lions
The Packers are playing for seeding this weekend, so they’ll want to leave no doubt. With the Lions starting David Blough, Green Bay should cover this big spread.
Pick: Packers
Los Angeles Chargers at Kansas City Chiefs (-9)
On Sunday night, the Chiefs looked to have everything going for them. They are peaking right before the playoffs and should be able to win easily against a Chargers team with nothing to play for.
Pick: Chiefs
Chicago Bears at Minnesota Vikings (-1)
The Vikings played a bad game against the Packers and they may rest starters in week 17. Chicago should be able to take advantage.
Pick: Bears
Miami Dolphins at New England Patriots (-15.5)
Miami put up some points last week against Cincinnati, while the Patriots’ offense is still struggling. This is too wide of a spread and the Patriots may let off the gas a little bit.
Pick: Dolphins
Atlanta Falcons at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-1)
Jameis Winston has turned over the ball too many times to be trusted. The Falcons defense is playing decently down the stretch.
Pick: Falcons
New Orleans Saints (-13) at Carolina PanthersÂ
The Panthers are a mess right now after getting destroyed by the Colts. New Orleans has seeding to play for and will not have to worry too much in this one.
Pick: Saints
Sunday Evening
Washington Redskins at Dallas Cowboys (-11)
Dallas now needs help to make the playoffs, but they will be motivated to win this game just in case the Eagles lose. The Redskins will be without rookie quarterback Dwayne Haskins.
Pick: Cowboys
Oakland Raiders at Denver Broncos (-3.5)
Drew Lock has played decently to start his career for the Broncos. The Raiders still have playoff hopes, so they will at least keep it close.
Pick: Raiders
Arizona Cardinals at Los Angeles RamsÂ
There is no line on this game yet, but this will be updated before the weekend. The Cardinals just came off of a win over the Seahawks and with the way the Rams are playing, should be able to keep this close if not win the game.
Pick: Cardinals
Philadelphia Eagles (-4.5) at New York GiantsÂ
Philadelphia will win this game, but because it has playoff implications it will come down to the wire. Daniel Jones also played well this week against the Redskins.
Pick: Giants
Indianapolis Colts (-3.5) at Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jaguars are faltering down the stretch. Indianapolis should be able to run the ball and play solid defense to get the win.
Pick: Colts
Pittsburgh Steelers (-2) at Baltimore Ravens
Baltimore is resting their starters in this game, which means the Steelers are favored. Their defense will play well with their season being on the line.
Pick: Steelers
Tennessee Titans (-3.5) at Houston TexansÂ
Bill O’Brien has said that the Texans intend on winning this game. The smart bet is on the Texans because the Titans are actually favored in this one.
Pick: Texans
Sunday Night
San Francisco 49ers (-3) at Seattle SeahawksÂ
The 49ers, like the other top teams in the NFC, are playing for seeding. Seattle has had to sign Marshawn Lynch and Robert Turbin because of the injuries to running back.
Pick: 49ers
