NFL week 16 is here. Picking NFL games straight up is hard enough, but picking against the spread is even tougher. Here are the NFL week 16 picks against the spread. (Spreads are from tallysight.com as of Tuesday morning)
Last week: 7-8-1, Overall: 112–110-2
Friday
Minnesota Vikings at New Orleans Saints (-7)
Drew Brees looked bad to start the game against the Chiefs, but he started to regain his form at the end of the game. New Orleans played the Chiefs tough and should be able to protect their home field and cover on a short week.
Pick: Saints
Saturday
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-9) at Detroit Lions
Detroit has Matthew Stafford playing injured and they have nothing to play for in this game. The Bucs will be fighting for playoff positioning and simply have too many weapons. They will win and cover on the road.
Pick: Buccaneers
San Francisco 49ers at Arizona Cardinals (-4.5)
Nick Mullens has looked awful at quarterback for the 49ers. The team has too many injuries to truly be successful and the Cardinals need to win this game as they make a push for the playoffs.
Pick: Cardinals
Miami Dolphins (-3) at Las Vegas RaidersÂ
The Raiders’ only win over the last several weeks was over the Jets and they barely won that game. For the time being, the Raiders should not be picked, especially against a solid team like the Dolphins.
Pick: Dolphins
Sunday Afternoon
New York Giants at Baltimore Ravens (-10.5)
The Ravens torched the Jaguars in week 15 and seem to be in a good spot. Their game against the Giants will likely result in a win, but it will be a lower-scoring affair. New York still has a lot to play for an will keep it within 10 points.
Pick: Giants
Chicago Bears (-7.5) at Jacksonville Jaguars
Ever since Mitch Trubisky has come back into the lineup, the Bears’ offense is looking much better. Their defense will limit the Jaguars and the offense will help them cover.
Pick: Bears
Carolina Panthers at Washington Football Team (-2.5)
Carolina started the year off well, but have not played well in the last several weeks. Washington’s defense will lead them to victory at home.
Pick: Washington
Atlanta Falcons at Kansas City Chiefs (-10.5)
The Chiefs will end up outscoring the Falcons, but the Falcons can put up some points of their own. Matt Ryan will have a good day with or without Julio Jones.
Pick: Falcons
Indianapolis Colts (-2.5) at Pittsburgh Steelers
Pittsburgh looks lost right now. They lost to the Bengals and now are on a short week. The Colts will bring physicality and defense to the game, which is something the Steelers don’t have right now.
Pick: Colts
Cleveland Browns (-9.5) at New York Jets
While the Jets just got their first win of the season, they shouldn’t be expected to compete with the Browns. Cleveland will run the ball well and win by two touchdowns.
Pick: Browns
Cincinnati Bengals at Houston Texans (-9.5)
The Bengals came out against the Steelers full of energy. They may not bee a great team, but if they can keep that energy, they will play the Texans close.
Pick: Bengals
Sunday Evening
Denver Broncos at Los Angeles Chargers (-3)
Justin Herbert has been fun to watch this season and the Chargers are starting to pick up wins. The Broncos are playing hard though and with points, should be picked this week.
Pick: Broncos
Philadelphia Eagles (-1.5) at Dallas Cowboys
The Eagles have Jalen Hurts playing good football at the quarterback position. He kept the team in the game against the Cardinals and he should be able to beat the Cowboys on the road with all of their injuries.
Pick: Eagles
Los Angeles Rams at Seattle Seahawks (-2)
Can the Rams really come out a week after losing to the Jets and put up an impressive performance against the Seahawks? The Seahawks should be picked to win and cover this week.
Pick: Seahawks
Sunday Night Football
Tennessee Titans at Green Bay Packers (-3)
The Packers have the top seed in the NFC for now, but they can’t stop the run. Derrick Henry will have a field day and will keep it close with the Packers.
Pick: Titans
Monday Night Football
Buffalo Bills (-7) at New England Patriots
New England has had a long season. Cam Newton hasn’t panned out and now Stephon Gilmore is lost for the year. This comes after not having Julian Edelman for most of the season and having players opting out. The Bills will win and cover on the road.
Pick: Bills
