The New York Jets have hired former Denver Broncos’ head coach Nathaniel Hackett as their offensive coordinator according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
Hackett was fired as head coach of the Broncos after a 4-11 start to his first season. He has been an offensive coordinator with the Packers, Jaguars and Bills over the last several years.
In New York, Hackett will take over for Mike LaFleur, who was let go following the season. The addition of Hackett has made the rumors of an Aaron Rodgers trade to New York flare up, as the two worked together closely in Green Bay.
The Packers are rumored to be exploring trade offers to AFC teams with the asking price being two-first round picks.
Hackett will be re-joining Robert Saleh, who he was on the same staff with in Jacksonville.
The Jets ranked 29th in the league at 17.4 points per game during the 2022 season.
