The New England Patriots have brought back Bill O’Brien as offensive coordinator, a position he previously had with the organization. ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Chris Lowe were the first to report the news.
O’Brien was the offensive coordinator at Alabama, a position he has had since 2021. He previously was an assistant and offensive coordinator with the Patriots from 2007-2011. His other NFL experience came as head coach of the Houston Texans from 2014-2020.
The Patriots bring in O’Brien after jumbling their coaching staff together in 2022. Matt Patricia was listed as the offensive coordinator, but Bill Belichick mentioned it was a group effort. The team scored 21.4 points per game.
