The Chiefs have made a few roster moves just six days ahead of the Super Bowl. Running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire has been activated, meaning he will play. Speedy wide receiver Mecole Hardman has been placed on IR, negating any chance that he’ll be available for the big game.
The Kansas City Chiefs’ official Twitter account reported the news on Monday.
Hardman has been on and off the IR this season. On November 17, he was placed on IR with an abdomen injury. He was, then, activated again on January 4, before ultimately landing back on injured reserve on Monday. He had 297 receiving yards and six total touchdowns this season.
In November, Edwards-Helaire was also placed on IR. He played in only eight games this year, racking up 293 yards on 69 attempts, scoring just three times. It is likely that Edwards-Helaire will still play as an RB2 behind rookie running back Isaiah Pacheco.
