The Game Haus will be analyzing the player ratings from Madden 20 of every NFL team. Madden has a daunting task of rating all NFL players and their attributes. While they have the ability to correct some of these rankings with in-season roster updates, there are some issues with some of the initial rankings of players. Here are the Madden 20 questionable ratings: New England Patriots.
Shaq Mason- 88
Mason’s blocking last year helped the Patriots win the Super Bowl. He was solid in both run and pass blocking, but it was more important that he kept Tom Brady clean as much as possible. Even though he is a great guard, Madden gave him a rating of 88.
Only two Patriots are graded above 90 overalls: Tom Brady and Stephon Gilmore. Mason should be the third. He has the same rating as Ali Marpet of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who he is a little better than. For that reason, his rating should be boosted a couple of points.
Adjusted Rating- 90
James White- 86
White has become more of a receiving threat than a running threat over the last few seasons, but is still able to do both well. He had 751 receiving yards and 425 rushing yards for a total of 12 touchdowns. Madden decided to rate him at an 86 for this season.
Adrian Peterson of the Washington Redskins rushed for 1,042 yards and had 208 receiving yards for a total of eight touchdowns last season for similar total production to White. Peterson was rated at an 83 though, which is more in line with what White should be rated. His own teammate, Sony Michel had similar total yardage numbers (931 rushing yards and 50 receiving yards) despite only playing in 13 games. Michel is rated at an 84.
Adjusted Rating- 83
Dont’a Hightower- 83
While Hightower has been a leader on the New England defense for years, he didn’t have a great season in 2018. In 15 games, Hightower had 46 total tackles and just three tackles for loss. Madden still thought his play was worth an 83 rating.
Roquan Smith had a fantastic season for the Chicago Bears with 121 total tackles. He was given an 81 rating and somehow Hightower is rated two points higher than him. Hightower should be docked quite a few points.
Adjusted Rating- 77
Kyle Van Noy- 77
Van Noy was all over the field for the Patriots last season. He finished the season with 92 total tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and one interception. Although he was a key player on a defense that won the Super Bowl, Van Noy was given just a 77 rating.
Jordan Hicks of the Philadelphia Eagles had a similar season with 90 total tackles and three sacks. Hicks was given a rating of 80 for his play though. Van Noy and Hicks should have about the same rating based on last season.
Adjusted Rating- 80
